Sunday Sessions:: 051020

I have been sharing a ton of music on this platform, but I have not necessarily been showcasing the sounds that are really driving most of my sessions as of late. So with that said, here is a taste of the tunes I am really liking these days. The first half of the set it more melodic, almost some trance-like elements in there. The second half is much more house at its most pure.

AM-2-PM:: Cay Caleb. (AM Session)

Got to love when your friends see what you are doing on social media and send you great music. This is the case for Cay Caleb., an artist that until last week, I had never heard of, but am damn glad I know of now. When describing artist, I am always careful of saying they sound like X or feel like Y. But in the case of Cay Caleb. I hope that I am not miss stepping. To me, this sounds like a slowed down Kaytranada with a little more blues influence. Many of the drum patterns sound just slightly off quantization which gives the sound a perfect imperfect sound. Either way, we hope you enjoy the music.

AM-2-PM:: Tale of Us (PM Session)

Over the last few years, I have come to find what Guy Gerber does to be different, unique, and downright enjoyable. In a recent video, I watched (linked here and embedded below). He highlights a few tips and tricks he does to make a track of tilt. This can best be compared to jazz and you know there is structure. But, the song allows for individuals to interpret where to head with pieces of the song and sound throughout.

AM-2-PM:: Smokedbeat (AM Session)

When you get up in the morning, sometimes you want music that moves you, other times you want music that helps you get moving. This album by SmokeBeat somehow is able to do both. Caught somewhere between jazz and hip-hop the lyrics are sharp but the snare might be sharper. When listening to we highly recommend having no less than a well-toasted everything bagel and cold-ass cream cheese with a solid cup of coffee in hand. Why? Why the hell not.

When you search for this morning’s artists Birocratic, you get this fantastic description, “The home of electronic/hip-hop producer Birocratic, creator of bumps, beets, and leftovers. Music for Youtubers, vloggers, etc. is available to license without …” Needless to say, Birocratic is a more forward thinking artist that others.

AM-2-PM:: Lane 8 (PM Session)

Over the last few months, Lane 8’s sets and sound have filled my headphones. His melodic house sound is perfect for sitting by the pool having a drink or unwinding after a long day at the “Office” your closet that is now your office….. Enjoy the mix.
