Story-01:: America's Amtrak moment could finally be here
Overview: Created in 1971 from the creaking remains of the classic US railroads that helped build modern America, Amtrak has often lived a precarious existence.
“President Joe Biden, a long-time rail commuter rejoicing in the nickname "Amtrak Joe," is calling on Congress to invest $80 billion in the rail network.”
Why It Matters: I am a massive fan of trains; I have talked about this for years, I have been taking them my whole life. The fact that more people don’t want to travel by train has always baffled me. If there are enhancements to this travel platform, I am going to be thrilled.
Story-2:: Apple launches an affiliate program for paid podcast subscriptions
Overview: Apple last month unveiled its plans for paid podcast subscriptions in a newly redesigned Apple Podcasts app. Now, it’s introducing a new program that will help podcast creators grow their subscriber base: affiliate marketing.
So, for example, if a paid podcast were charging subscribers $5 per month, the commission would be $2.50. This commission would apply to every new subscriber that signed up through the affiliate channel, and there’s no cap.
Why It Matters: Apple was the first company to make the podcast a thing. However, they and others have long struggled to find a way to monetize that asset. This approach allows content creators of all sizes to step into the monetization game.

Story-3:: Twitter subscription service leaks reveal the name, price, and an 'undo tweet' option
Overview: Twitter Blue will cost $2.99 per month and include an Undo Tweets feature and bookmark collections.
Why It Matters: In such a similar fashion to Apple, Twitter has not monetized their platform beyond add sales until soon…. But this is just another example of content creators using these platforms to monetize their content, with the recent acquisition of Tidal by Square. Twitter’s Jack Dorsey also resides as CEO. You have to imagine there will be some cross-over and that more music artists will start to maximize the platform vs. using alternatives like Instagram, YouTube, etc.

Story-4:: Apple Music announces Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos; will bring Lossless Audio to the entire catalog
Overview: Apple has announced that it is adding some new features to its music streaming service Apple Music. Starting next month, users will find some new options, such as spatial audio with support for Dolby Atmos as well as lossless audio files.
As for spatial audio, it’ll be enabled by default on hardware that supports Dolby Atmos, such as AirPods and Beats headphones with an H1 or W1 chip. The most recent iPhone, iPad, and Mac models also support Dolby Atmos. But it sounds like songs have to be remastered for Dolby Atmos specifically.
Why It Matters: Spacial Audio sounds great in your ear and this will help support not just a better listening experience, it will also support live music down the road when paired with AR if I was a betting man.
Overview: Everything your business needs to get it done. Manage projects, book clients, send invoices, and get paid — all on HoneyBook.
Why It Matters: I often get to interact with companies who have had systems and want to move from entry to middle-market and or enterprise. When I look at HoneyBook and what they are trying to do, it is fantastic to see a directly aimed platform and the start-up, the lower middle market. If you have been looking for an all-in-one solution, I would highly encourage you to check this out.
Story-6:: Testa Communications Founder Passes
Overview: Testa Communications Founder Vinny Testa passed away a few weeks ago.
Why It Matters: Many years ago Vinny and the Testa team were kind enough to welcome me to their family as an intern while I was in grad school. Through Testa (DJ Times, America’s Best DJ, and Club World Awards) I was able to go to Winter Music Conference, Atlantic City for the DJ EXPO, LA to see Gabriel and Dresden, run events in Ibiza. While all of that sounds really cool. It was the friendships I formed that made being a team something that I will always cherish.
