Story-1:: Erika Nardini elected to WWE’s Board of Directors
Overview: Erika Nardini is the CEO of BarStoolSports and was named to the board of Directors at WWE.
Why It Matters: This story is important for a couple of reasons. The first is well; this is just plain amazing for Erika (I am acting as I know her), who is CEO of BarStoolSports, as someone who has quickly become a big fan of her and what she’s doing, my hat is off to you for getting an elected. But the main reason I wanted to highlight this is due to something she said last week. ESPN and FOX just did content cuts because they didn’t learn how to operate effectively and effectively vs. Barstool, which knows how to make low-cost content and then disseminate that content in a reverse pyramid style. She also has figured out how to tap into the 18-34-year-old Male demographic that is hard for other brands to tap into, and oh, by the way, is also the WWE core demo. So while she won’t have an operational role at WWE, she will have influence and provide her expertise to the sports franchise. Who knows, there might even be some cross-company collaborations down the road.
“Erika is a seasoned executive with a tremendous track record of building businesses, developing experiences, and engaging different audiences across the media ecosystem,”– Vince McMahon
Don’t forget to check out here podcast from Barstool Sports ‘Token CEO’ which is available through BSP, Apple Podcast, and Spotify. In the show, she covers business topics, discusses current events, provides professional advice, and has some great guests.
Story-2:: Saving us all from Zoom Calls
Overview: Fast Company highlights three alternatives to zoom calls that will make connecting feel more spontaneous
- Remote work shouldn’t feel remote,Know who’s available and talk live with video
- MINGLR is an experimental software system developed to explore ways of supporting ad hoc, private videoconferences.
- InSpace Proximity
- A video platform designed to make video learning feel more like a physical classroom.
Why It Matters: Filling a gap in virtual conferences or trying to help employee and or friends connect without having it planned is where there is a void in the market. Either through social networks if there could be a way that “Friends” are search or taking about a similar topic and that platform could connect the two and say you are both talking about said topic. Or in the professional world, a similar set of activities. Where two or more people are talking about something and or a theme is being mentioned throughout the organization and then the system creates a meeting based on employees availability. Now that would be extremely powerful..

Story-3:: Optimizing your life with Google and Zapier
Overview: So, you often hear about systems/applications being referred to as “platform.” Google’s Drive, technically now called Google Workspace, falls into this category. With these tools, you can use this platform to track and manage different aspects of your life to optimize things. The article, or better said, life playbook, was constructed by Alexandra Samuel (@awsamuel and Web) article lists eight categories and a whole host of content linked via DaileyBlend.com/Show.
- Part 1: Handle life’s logistics
- Part 2: Stay motivated
- Part 3: Collaborate with your team
- Part 4: Strengthen your relationships
- Part 5: Manage your health
- Part 6: Stay on top of your finances
- Part 7: Do what brings you joy
- Part 8: Fight for Social Change
Why It Matters: I love creating lists, I mean, I really love lists. Tracking and execution is why I get out of bed. So the fact that Alexandra has created a cheat sheet for how to use Google Workspace by the way powering Dailey Blend Email, Google Give us a bag (If you don’t know that reference, then go check out Full Size Run on Youtube) is something I can get excited about. What I also love is how she is highlighting how Zapier is used to automate activities makes me even more excited to run through this list. If you are like me, you hit the ground running on Monday, but by Wednesday night, you need a break and need to change gears to have a mental break. My suggestion is you bookmark this podcast/web post, come back to it Wednesday night and try to optimize some aspect of your life.
Story-4:: Mixcloud launches ticketed livestreams for artists via Mixcloud LIVE
Overview: Live streaming is everywhere, Twitch, Youtube, Instagram, (Facebook), etc. etc. But for DJ’s, live streaming, you are in sort of a grey area. Mixcloud was one of the first platforms that found a way to legally allow you to livestream (Article here) your DJ set and now they are setting their sites on selling tickets.
Why It Matters: If you couldn’t tell by my Music Monday posts, AM-2-PM series, or my own DJ Music series podcast Dailey Blend Podcast; I have long been involved with DJ Culture of some sort. What I find interesting is the fact that so many DJ’s are live streaming but not really looking to monetize their streams beyond some base-level product placement or revenue they receive from banner ads. While the platform is still in Beta, this gives Mixcloud a chance to reach a broader audience, it also lets the content creator monetize and get additional eye balls from others on the MixCloud Platform.
Story-5:: Apple design VP Alan Dye joins Hodinkee Radio podcast to talk Apple Watch Series 6 and watchOS 7
Overview: Hodinkee is the world’s leader in horology, Apple is the leader in digital watches. With the recent launch of the latest Apple Watch, it only felt right to have these two brands come together to talk.
Why It Matters: As a big fan of both brands, I have listened, read, watched every piece of content from Hodinkee on Apple’s watch. At the same time, my favorite is still Ben Clymer’s video ‘A Week on the Wrist’ from 2017 when Apple finally releases a watch with a phone within. Since then, the Apple watch has only gotten smarter, and while there haven’t been revolutionary updates, there have been strong evolutionary updates, namely, Podcast, Sleep Tracking, and haptic alerts. That being said, it is always interesting and fun to hear Apple’s team talk about their products; you get a glimpse into what goes into making these devices and possible hints at things to come.
