I have long been a fan of Nick Murphy and his previous project Chet Faker and the album ‘Built on Glass’ (See our post here). Nick is gifted musically, his songs strike a chord with me emotionally, and the energy in which he plays is captivating. So when I received an email in my inbox informing me of a new album, I was gleam with excitement. Upon further review, I learned this was an all-instrumental album and my excitement quickly turned to concern. Concern that I might not love the album and then forever been less “impressed” by Nick’s body of work. Concerned that I would thing have to wait another couple of months or worse years to get new music from Nick. Who was I kidding… The album is incredible and for all different reasons then I have loved past work. What more, the album seemed to be that perfect balance of still, energy, and patients that we all need at a moment like this.
If you are in need of ‘balance’ or even a bit of calm, check out this album and prepare to be impressed.
