Story-1:: Bret Taylor is Co-CEO @ Salesforce

Overview: Bret Taylor who at one time was CEO at early social network FriendFeed, also served as CTO at Facebook from 2009-2012. He came to Salesforce when it acquired Quip for $750 million in 2016. He quickly moved through the ranks leapfrogging other longtime executives.

Why It Matters: Salesforce has been acquiring companies in a high velocity, it is difficult for one person to oversee all of these transactions and post-merger integration efforts. What is unclear is does this meet Bret will roll into Marc Benioff or truly be a pier. Based on moves at Google and Amazon. It is likely a similar strategy to those two companies to help the founders/leaders focus their attention beyond the core company. All that being said, we are getting close to when Salesforce puts out their next-year strategy and roadmap content. Will be interested to see how they continue to showcase what is next for the firm. Specifically, I am interested in their experience platform and Tableau; greatest impact on B2B business in the coming year. It should also be noted Bret was appointed as an independent board member to Twitter this past week.

Story-2:: Twitter has new leadership

Overview: Earlier this week, Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey stepped down from his role. He appointed CTO Parag Agrawal as new CEO, effective immediately. Agrawal, who joined Twitter as an engineer in 2011, already announced a major reorganization of the company today, per an internal email obtained by The Washington Post. Twitter confirmed the news to TechCrunch, as well.

Why It Matters: Discounting the more recent releases in technology by way of Twitter Blue and Spaces. Twitter has largely not stayed up with the pack in terms of tech when you look at what others are doing i.e., Meta (Facebook, IG), Youtube, Linkedin etc. You couple that with the fact that Jack Dorsey was sitting at CEO to two companies, it makes a whole lot of sense to appoint a new CEO. What was interesting is the fact that normally a CEO is promoted from finance or marketing sides of the house, Twitter deliberately went with technology. This should send a message to the street where they believe their biggest weakness lies and where they play to focus their energy. What is unclear is does that mean they are going to start the R&D build model or are they going to start spending cash and acquiring new entities. Only time will tell on this one.

Story-3:: Project Management = Aligments

Overview: Asana is project Manager solutions. The real issue with Asana shares simply boils down to investor terror about even hints of slowing growth in the high-multiple software sector. DocuSign’s (DOCU) disappointing earnings report Thursday evening, which showed slowing growth, has triggered a 40% decline in its stock price on Friday. Shares of Zoom Video Communications (ZM), which faces growing competition from Microsoft Teams, are down 18% for the week.

Story-4:: Microsoft Loop, Will It Change How we Flow (Work)

Overview: Let's say a team is chatting in Microsoft Teams and the team wants to decide on a new slogan for their company. So what Microsoft is doing is adding more widget like tools that will stay up to date across the company. Microsoft Loop consists of three elements: Loop components, Loop pages, and Loop workspaces.

  • Loop components: An evolution of Fluid components—are atomic units of productivity that help you collaborate and get your work done in the flow of your work—in a chat, email, meeting, document, or Loop page. Loop components can be as simple as lists, tables, notes, tasks, or as sophisticated as a customer sales opportunity from Microsoft Dynamics 365, and because components stay in sync, no matter how many places they live in, you and your team always work with the latest information.

    • And a status tracker which will help you gather information from your team, track progress towards all aspects of your project, and always maintain an up-to-date status across your team.

  • Loop pages are flexible canvases where you can organize your components and pull in other useful elements like files, links, or data to help teams think, connect, and collaborate. Pages are optimized for thinking together and getting work done. They can start small and continue to grow to match the size of your ideas and projects.

  • Loop workspaces are shared spaces that allow you and your team to see and group everything important to your project. Workspaces make it easy for you to catch up on what everyone is working on, react to others’ ideas, or track progress toward shared goals. Teams can collaborate synchronously or asynchronously whenever inspiration strikes.

Why It Matters:  The way in which companies communicate is changing, Teams like Slack for Salesforce, is the digital hub, it is just too connected.

The example is voting or a table. You can embed it across multiple areas and it auto updates. There are a ton of other use cases, but the key thing here is companies need to adopt this modern collaborative workflow. STOP SENDING EMAILS!!!!!

Clipchamp’s template-driven, task-focused user experience gives everyone the confidence that they can create. Story-6:: Tell Your Story in Your Words, Well PowerPoint to be exact

Overview: For many people, though, the logistics of recording a presentation can cause as much – or even more – stress than the process of creating it. Making recording less stressful frees you to focus on instructing, inspiring, and entertaining those who watch your presentation. PowerPoint’s new recording studio now gives you an enhanced recording experience and more options when recording your presentation.

  • Teleprompter view: This is the default view you’ll see when you click Record. It is ideal for many recordings, as it helps you to focus on getting your points across successfully. Instead of fumbling with a printout of your notes or juggling two laptops to read notes from one, you can simultaneously look at the camera and read your notes.

  • Presenter view: Do you feel more comfortable when you can be reminded of what’s coming up in a presentation? Choose this view and on the same screen, you’ll see the slide you’re presenting and your note on the right side of the pane, along with thumbnail views of all upcoming slides so you can be prepared. This view is similar to our PowerPoint Live presenter view.

  • Slide view: Perhaps you’re a minimalist and want to focus on the slide you’re presenting. Or, maybe your slides are so loaded with useful content that you don’t need notes and you like to speak spontaneously. This view is also recommended if you plan to make annotations on the slide as you go and need a larger canvas.

If your PowerPoint file and video are on SharePoint or OneDrive, they’re automatically saved to the same location. You can share the presentation with reviewers or others from the library and the video will play with the new Microsoft Stream player (built on SharePoint). In addition, you can easily get back to all your exported videos from the new Stream start page in Office.com.

Why It Matters: Telling stories it critical, being able to do this through PowerPoint and leverage the ability to provide a digital KeyNote is incredibly powerful. Can’t wait to start rolling out more of these presentations and see how they resonate with folks.

Story-7:: Slack to be your digital hub

Overview: With the addition of Slack, we’ve created a digital HQ that is completely transforming the way we work. It’s where we connect, share information, get our work done and heck, hopefully have some fun. 76% of workers believe that how a company collaborates is a direct reflection of their culture and with Slack, we’ve measurably changed our culture for the better. This year, we’ve seen:

  • Individual and team productivity increased by 16% and 13%, respectively

  • The number of emails we sent decreased 46% as our teams turn to more collaborative, real-time communication

  • Our employees sent 58.7 million Slack messages and conducted 489,000 Slack Huddles — impromptu voice chats — in the last 30 days alone

Why It Matters: The fact that the pandemic will continue to be part of our workplace is not exactly welcome news, but it gives us even more license to embrace a Success From Anywhere world — right now. The road to the future of work will not be a straight line and we will continue to practice and learn together. But by prioritizing connection and empowering employees to redefine the workplace on their own terms, we’re on the right path.
