Year-End Review:: Top Mixes of 2021
Looking back on the year 2021, there was a lot of new music coming out from artists who had been sitting on tracks, those artists that were heading back out of the road, or just trying to figure out how to squeeze out a little more live streaming. Regardless of where they were in their coming-back lifecycle, there was just solid music top to bottom. Rather than try to find the Top-10 Mixes from 2021, we wanted to feature those mixes that we listened to the most. The artist below span from across the spectrum of electronic music, and we wanted to make sure we included their social channels so you can connect and follow them online!
We are thrilled to highlight our favorite mixes of the years. Jump down to the comments section to highlight some of your favorites.
10. The Anjunadeep Edition 332 with Catching Flies
Overview:: Came across Catching Flies by way of another mix thanks to his track ‘Satisfied’ which, at first, I thought was an old Moby track that had been remixed. After some digging, I came across Catching Flies and really started to enjoy his original tracks and remixes leading me to discover this mix, chalked full of his tracks and remixes.

08. The Anjunadeep Edition 370 with Just Her
Overview:: This mix was discovered as thanks to the folks from Anjundeep, unlike some of the other mixes on this list, there was a whole lot of depth to the mix, with tracks that brought you to heights and then were just those steady movers that were perfect for finding the groove on the dance floor.

07. Jan Blomqvist (live) - Mayan Warrior - Burning Man 2019 (Official Video)
Overview:: The only feature on this list that isn’t technically a DJ’set/Mix, but hey, it is our list, so we can share what we want to share. Jan Blomqvist is an electronic producer and live performer, this stream was captured as part of burning man, and if you haven’t ever experienced it, check out this stream and then get ready to jump on American Airlines to experience it for yourself.

06. Guy Gerber | Rio de Janeiro Cliffside (Stream)
Overview:: Over the years, I have become increasingly interested in Guy Gerber’s sound. There is something sort of rock-n-roll and almost Jazz like, where you have this sort of steady track playing, but then he tweaks it in a way that isn’t typically 4/4-quantized dance music. If you don’t know what I mean, head over to Spotify to hear his album ’11 11” with Diddy.

05. Eli & Fur - Malibu Sunset Set
Overview:: I was totally pulled in two directions on sharing this mix, first off, the ladies have been just crushing it we DJ Sets, Live Streams, Remixes, and their own album. In December they dropped another live stream that had a more aggressive playlist, but this was the mix that I listened to most from them, 31 times to be exact. As long as the clubs and festivals stay open, expect a whole lot more from these two in 2022.

04. Gimérique presents "Alpine Rush" Afterhour Sounds Podcast Nr. 207
Overview:: Sometimes you know exactly how you came across a mix, either thanks to a series you have subscribed to, a record label, or a friend. In the case of this mix by Gimérique, I literally have no clue. That being said, I am super pleased I did stumble on this mix and can’t wait to hear more! This was the mix I went to anytime I had two hours of works that I needed to knock through that needed total focus.

03. The Anjunadeep Edition 299 with Elif
Overview:: This mix was the first mix that I was introduced to Elif thanks to the folks over at Anjunadeep and to say this mix and her sound has influenced my own personal sound as a DJ is the understatement of the

02. La Renaissance (2021)
Overview:: We have featured the Frnchm aka Alex Viau aka Kouleur, a number of times on the old site across Music Monday and our AM-2-PM music series, so there is no surprise that one of his mixes lands at the top of the list for this year. Have a listen to both his Soundcloud pages, I promise, you will enjoy it.

01. Sasha in the Lab LDN
Overview:: This was one of the first mixes we saw the Mixmag lab open back up and having Sasha bring a slew of new fire, along with a relatively new setup for him comprised of the Pioneer V10 Mixer, Three CDJ-3000, and a Three RMX-1000. The mix just was the perfect go-to for me for working or just getting stuff done around the house.
