Story-1:: Barstool Sports' CEO details the brand's TikTok strategy that has made the app its top source of new audience growth

Overview: Erika Nardini aka the ‘Token CEO’ (Her Token CEO Podcast Linked Here) is one of the most captivating CEO on the internet and in media at large. Her podcast covers topics ranging from business through WWE wresting, by the way she is on the Board!! One of the things that I she has bee very bullish on is TikTok and their team’s use of the platform.

“Visual platforms are winning, every trend that you’re seeing is originating on TikTok. The creativity and just the personality and the weirdness … It’s a unique format. I think that’s partly why TikTok is exploding.”

Why It Matters: Similar to the way businesses were slow on the uptick on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It appears that Tik Tok for many brands is no different. This platform is having massive growth and while IG is trying to compete, Tik Tok might very well emerge as a unicorn from this COVID Era. Business who can figure out how best to leverage the platform will have a leg up on their competition.

Story-2:: Traditional Media Look Out

Overview: Former ESPN President John Skipper, Dan Le Batard Launch Meadowlark Media

Why It Matters: Over the years, I have tuned into Dan’s show from time to time. Any while he is an interesting guy and has a unique point of view. What I am more interested in how he can separate himself from other ESPN former team members who have gone out on their own.

Story-3:: Expect New from Native Instruments and Traktor

Overview: A massive portion of Native Instruments’ shares have been sold to the Francisco Partners investing firm. It’s been no secret that NI’s higher-ups have been debating reducing their ownerships, ever since Traktor was almost sold to Allen and Heath last year. There are the same people who purchased MyFitnessPal and have many over investments including EventBright

Why It Matters: If you can’t tell by this website, my other podcast the Dailey Blend Podcast I love house music and overall DJ culture. I have long been a fan of Native Instruments and Traktor and have felt that the platform fell off. The hardware updates were too few, the updates not frequent enough and they have not kept up with the market. Based on the capital infusion from Francisco Partners, I fully expect change to come.

Story-4:: New year, new DJ Gear.

Overview: Pioneer releases a “budget” version of their popular battle mixers. Rane Unveils Debut All-In-One Controller, Rane One, and Richie Hawtin launches the PlayDifferently 1.4.

Why It Matters: We are all stuck inside with limited things to do. Having new toys to play with is fun and allows us the scratch the creative itch.

Story-4:: Hype and influence with MKBHD

Overview: The article focuses on day-to-day operation of a YouTube channel where he plays every role from business development to ad sales to actually reviewing the phones

Why It Matters: MKBHD is one of the most important YouTube’s for tech. What this guy says means a lot to 10M people. The podcast and article highlights how he has built a business around influence and for those looking

Story-5:: First SmartMap in Salesforce

Overview: Today’s buying group involves anywhere from six to 10 decision-makers. As buying groups expand and deals get more complex, sales teams struggle to keep up with contacts, the relationships between them, and the influence they carry. That’s because most businesses still rely on reps to enter and update contact details manually. This approach typically ends one of three ways: contacts go missing, details are wrong, or information grows stale.

With People.ai, businesses can bypass manual data entry with a data platform that automates contact capture and Salesforce matching. When details change—title, seniority, or even contact information—People.ai is behind the scenes enriching those contact profiles, turning them into SmartContacts.

Why It Matters: When you sell you typically don’t sell into a single person. And with tools like Sales Navigator, Apollo, etc. It is becoming easier to understand who you know at a specific target that maybe not the person you are trying to sell into and use those relationships to support your sales efforts.
