Topic-1: BEATPORT LAUNCHES SUBSCRIPTION MUSIC STREAMING SERVICE FOR DJS
Overview: The current beta version of Beatport LINK makes Beatport’s extensive music catalog available to stream directly into performance software currently only available on Pioneer’s mobile app. Beatport LINK also includes the beta release of Beatport CLOUD, which introduces a suite of features including full track previews via Beatport’s proprietary Needle Drop Player, unlimited re-downloads of previously purchased tracks and a new My Library section. A subscription to Beatport LINK costs $14.99 per month, while a subscription to Beatport CLOUD costs $4.99 per month.
Why It Matters: It is no secret that I care deeply about DJ gear, equipment, technology. So the fact that Beatport finally is starting to roll out their streaming integrated solution with Pioneer is music to my ear. To those who have not been hitting refresh on Beatport’s website ever sense they announced that they were about to launch their new solution the solution is fairly straight forward. Once you have a DJ software solution (Traktor, Serato etc. will all work soon), then you create a Beatport Link account and through the API in the DJ software, the two services will interlock and you will be able to access your Beatport music via your DJ software. For guys like me who love to DJ but don’t make any more from DJing, buying 15-20 new tracks every week adds up, so having the ability to download (cashe) songs not only is cost effective, but it provides you with the freedom to try different styles and have the freedom to have fun.

Topic-2: Nike Fit uses AR to help shoppers find just the right size shoe
Overview: Nike has released an Augmented Reality (AR) for helping sneaker lovers like myself find the right shoes for their feet.
Nike is integrating a new service to its app that lets you measure your feet to find the correct shoe size. They estimate that 60% of consumers are wearing the wrong size, and the app will tell you what size you should be wearing in different styles of their shoes. It will be particularly useful for kids shoes, obviously, and will make the online recommendation and buying within the apps even easier.
Why It Matters: We are still in early days of how AR can help with clothes selection, but in a few years, this will be the one way we shop. Imagine a world where you can stand in front of your mirror and the image you see if a digital representation of you and you can scroll through outfits and see how they would actually look and fit.

Topic-3: Fiverr files to go public
Overview: The Gig economy is here and Fiverr is the go-to provider on the web for connecting with individuals who can help you with task both big and small in a simple easy to use manner.
Why It Matters: If you are a small business looking for some website work, a video producer looking for a voice over guy, or in need of graphic design work Fiverr is the best solution on the web for identify and acquiring talent for said activities. What I love about Fiverr is first the cost, second is ease of use, and lastly the ability to view the portfolio of those that you are looking to hire. To note, not all services are $5 and the individuals selling services typically have ranges of product offering at different price points and if you want your job expedited you will have to pay a little more. I have personally used Fiverr over 15 times and yeah, most of the time it is great, some of the time the output isn’t what you had envisioned in your mind, but for the price point, it really isn’t a big deal. I often tell people to think of Fiverr as a company that can help you scope out your ideas and A|B test things. If it works out that you love what they product (I often do) then that is added bonus!
Topic-4: Warner Music
Overview: Warner Music has become the first major label to sign a record deal with an algorithm.
The German mood music app Endel has been signed to create 20 albums this year alone with five already released. The app creates personalised soundscapes for users depending on their requirements, whether it be to relax or to focus. The official site refers to it as “a cross-platform audio ecosystem”.
Why It Matters: If you can’t tell by the site, I am into music, from house to hip-hop and everything in between. I love how like smells and colors, music has a way of transforming your environment from a lonely basement office, to a world class jazz studio. The fact that we are starting to have AI develop music based on tones and moods is something pretty special and I have to believe that were this is heading is AI will be able to look at your schedule, read your body mood from your SmartWatch and then create music to meet your needs.
Topic-5: Morning Rituals that matter
Overview: Life hacker Tim Ferris, shares five things that he attempt to do every morning. Realistically, if he hit three out of five, he consider myself having won the morning. And if you win the morning, you win the day!
Why It Matters: Morning Rituals are important to me, I am on the road most weeks and keeping a routing in the AM is critical to my overall day success. For me, I find that if I can do some sort of working out, goal setting, or stretching, then I feel like I am already a winner and I am off to have a great day. Play around with what works for you, but just remembers, don’t try to do too many things at once and don’t get mad if you don’t get it all done each day.
