Music Monday:: Goose comes to Chicago for multiple nights, did you go?
Goose, an animal, a band, and one heck of a seller of swag!
About two years ago, I found myself at breakfast with my wife, my wife’s coworker, and their husband. We were sitting there, talking shop and catching up, when I noticed something that caught my attention. My wifes coworker's husband was wearing a hat, and I said, "Hey, what sports team is that?"
He just laughed and said, "Nah, man, it's Goose."Goose? My mind instantly tried to figure out what team or logo I'd missed. I asked again, thinking it was some local squad I didn't know about, but no – it wasn’t a team. It was a band. And that moment hit me like a ton of bricks: for the first time in my life, I felt old and completely out of touch with what was "hot" in the music scene. It wasn't just some random pop band I could shrug off; this was a legit jam band that people were buzzing about, and I had zero clue.
Fast forward to today, and I’m officially a Goose fanboy. I dove in hard over the last year, and now I can’t get enough. Recently, I was on the road and couldn't make it to their Salt Shed shows in Chicago, which was a real bummer. I kept hoping those shows would be recorded and put on Spotify so I could relive what I missed. Still hoping.
Since we’re still waiting on those shows to drop, I wanted to highlight one of my favorites—Goose live at The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, which happens to be just down the street from where I live now. If you haven’t listened to them yet, I highly recommend checking it out. They’ve got this incredible groove, and if you’re into jam bands, they’re a must.
Oh, and yes—Goose has fantastic swag. I’ll use the word “fantastic” one more time because, honestly, it fits.
So, until they come back to Chicago, enjoy their live performance from The Fox Theatre. Goose is a journey, and once you’re in, you’re in for the long haul.
