Throwback Thursday:: Global Underground - Danny Tenaglia (Part-2)

Mix Series Overview

Global Underground launched in November 1996 with DJ Tony de Vit and an album based on his set in Tel Aviv, Israel. Since then, the biggest DJs in the world have appeared on our distinctive and iconic covers: Carl Cox, Solomun, Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, Joris Voorn, Deep Dish, and Danny Tenaglia have all played their part in GU’s long storied history with albums inspired by their sets at incredible locations everywhere from Burning Man to Ibiza.

Danny Tenaglia is one of the key contributors to the series. Recently, he announced the completion of his Global Underground trilogy with the release of 'GU45: Brooklyn'. This marks the culmination of his journey with Global Underground, which began with 'GU10: Athens' in 1999 and continued with 'GU17: London' in the following year.

'GU45: Brooklyn' holds special significance as it takes Danny Tenaglia back to his hometown and features tracks that reflect his roots and musical evolution over the years. The compilation includes works from artists such as Moderat, Monika Kruse with Pig&Dan, Dino Lenny, Basement Jaxx, and Tenaglia himself. Notably, the release also features his upcoming single with Cevin Fisher titled 'Move That Body'.

This trilogy by Danny Tenaglia holds an important place in the Global Underground series, showcasing his deep connection to various cities and the evolving electronic music landscape. Tenaglia's mixes have been celebrated for their influence on the series, with releases like 'Athens GU10' and 'London GU17' becoming favorites among electronic music enthusiasts worldwide.

With that said, we are going to feature a few of Danny’s mixes and highlight a few other mixes we have loved along the way.

The Global Underground Founder, Andy Horsfield, expressed his excitement for the final release of Danny Tenaglia's GU Trilogy, highlighting the significant impact of Tenaglia's mixes on the series and the anticipation for the 'GU45: Brooklyn' album.

Of course, it's not just Danny Tenaglia who's contributed to the Global Underground series. Other notable DJs and artists have also been featured, such as Deep Dish, who presented their take on the Toronto electronic music scene in the 'Global Underground: Toronto' release. This particular edition showcased Deep Dish's distinctive mixing style and their ability to capture the essence of a city's music culture.

Overall, the Global Underground Music Mix Series has been a fantastic platform for DJs and artists to curate and share their musical journeys. And with Danny Tenaglia's trilogy serving as a significant highlight in the series, 'GU45: Brooklyn' is a fantastic tribute to his musical roots and his impact on the electronic music scene.
