Drink With Greg & Negronis with Greg:

    • Drink of the Week - The Tehrooni Negroni - Linked Here

      • A few weeks ago, our good friend Tom Boudreau (@tomasboudr) I sent Reed (@ReedDailey) a new drink recipe that he discovered called the Tehrooni Negroni. Naturally, he shared the drink we me and in true Reed Dailey fashion, he put me on text chain with Tom to talk about the drink within seconds.  Tom raved about how great the spirit was and how the Saffron Ice and Mint + Basil garnish really took this cocktail to the next level. Thankfully he was kind enough to send a snap shot of the look of the drink, the ingredients, and most importantly, the fact that is had some money looking ice!

On The Road

  • Check out our latest post from our recent trip to Boston - Linked Here

    • As someone who has on their Twitter profile (@ReedDailey) the quote, "Ready to travel but only in planes or trains." The most significant blow to me during this pandemic has been that, for the most part, I have not been able to do one of my favorite things in the world: take an adventure. Experiences can be as simple as checking out a new part of town, getting on the train and learning about a new piece of your city, or getting on a plane and exploring an unused portion of the world. Thankfully, fingers crossed, we are getting closer to the end of this whole thing and can return to the old ways or define new ways however you want to look at it.

So it is with that said that I am thrilled to return to Boston, a home away from home city, for a quick spring trip adventure.

Weekly Rundown: Music, Drinks and Travel

The Weekly Rundown is the segment of the Daily Blend show

Speaker A: Everyone, welcome back to the weekly rundown on the Daily Blend show with me, Reed. Daily? This is the week of October 24, 2023. And if you are new around here, the Weekly Rundown is the segment of the show where we feature things across the Daily Blend platform, special projects I'm involved with, and news at large. So we're going to jump right into it this week, in terms of talking about the stories and what's going on across Daily Blend. But before we do that, I do want to remind you that the show is available on Apple Podcast, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever else you get your podcast. You can also follow us on X and Instagram at Dailey Blend. And of course, check out our newly designed and I guess you'd call renovated Dailey Blend, uh.com, website.

Next month we are doing a whole takeover of Gabriel and Dresden

Speaker A: All right, time to jump into this week's topics on music. So did a few things over the weekend to kind of get prepared for the coming weeks ahead. Very excited to announce that next month we are basically doing a whole takeover of Gabriel and Dresden. I've just been jamming to a bunch of their old classic sets, throughout the last 20 years. I was texting with Greg from Negronis and Greg's and we went to one of their sets down at Miami Music, conference. I think it was called Winter Music Conference back then. And just looking at some of the old pictures from different, sets and, looking forward to showing some of my favorite sets of theirs. Probably going to also do a DJ set of my own of some of their originals and bootlegs. I actually did one of their Kickstarter albums, I think it was Remedy a couple years back. And through that we got remix packages of original songs and then some of their bootlegs that Dave's been playing over the years. So looking forward to kind of sharing what Gabriel and Dresden, has meant to me musically. And, it's been a bunch of fun nights, both seeing them live as well as independently when they went their solo ways. That's Josh doing kind of more techno and Dave doing pretty much the same thing, but a little more remixy. in terms of Throwback Thursdays featured a, very cool set from Virgil Abloh on his imaginary radio. It was all like jazz and soul and funk and it was really just, I want to say breathtaking that's just too strong. But it was a fantastic set. I thought it was really cool. in terms of a bunch of artists that I'm not as up to speed. I think I'm, paraphrasing this based off, I think, one social post he did that he did a lot of soul and funk and jazz on Sundays. And I kind of can get behind that sort of vibe, if you will. And then, in terms of Music Mondays, ah, which is the latest and greatest, I had to post the new Blink 182 album. I was a huge fan of theirs over the last 20 years. happy to see the band kind of come back together. Saw their coachella set, through the live stream, not there. and it was fantastic.

Drinks with Greg started as a podcast on Negronis

Speaker A: All right, jumping from music over to Drinks with Greg. So Drinks with Greg's, if you're less familiar, is my project with, Greg Larson. We started off as doing a podcast on Negronis, and then it grew to a whole separate, brand called Drink with Greg. And we have a podcast as well. one of my really good buddies, Tom Boudreaux, text me a couple of months back of Taruni Negroni. I was prepping for this, and I kept on saying, why is it tagroni? But it's clear. So the Taruni negroni is got botanist gin, blanc vermouth, orange liqueur, saffron ice with mint and basil. Now, if you head over to Drinkwithgreg.com and look this, up, or you just go to the, weekly rundown and I've linked to it, you can see not only how to make the drink, but also how to make the saffron ice. I tried once, and I screwed up and I used too hot of water and I scorched, the mint. So I'm going to mint or basil, or both maybe, I think. So I'm going to try again this weekend. I think it will probably be one of the last weekends before the spring that I actually want this drink. So going to give it a whirl. and then in terms of books, we love starting to see more sort of tailgating house parties. And, batching cocktails is just an easy way to prep ahead of time so you can enjoy your guests. And one of the books that we've seen over at Drink With Greg that we were really impressed with is Maggie Hoffman, and her Batch Cocktails book. So if you go to Drink with Greg, you can read up about Maggie, about the book, and you can purchase it, of course. it's a great way to kickstart the weekend on a Friday night or Thursday night to kind of mentally get ready for some fun. former Negronis with Greg guest, Marie Larson swears by pre batching, cocktails, specifically Negroni's. she does them in the pocket freezer version. So, negroni with, Greg Alum, Marie Larson co signs this book. in terms of the Friday top five, you'll notice that we aren't doing posts online about that. It's transitioned into a part of the, Daily Blend Show newsletter. if you want to get those five bullets, sent to your inbox every week, go to Forward slash newsletter and you can sign up and you're going to get all that goodness in your inbox every Friday. Last week, we did movies that you should know about playing differently thinking differently with Richie Houghton, how to basically make some warrior bites. They're fun bites for football, and how to dominate your to do list. So it's a little bit of fun, a little bit of relaxing, a little bit of life hacking. It's all great stuff. Remember, once again, that's newsletter.

Daily Blend recently restarted its on the Road series about Boston

Speaker A: All right, closing out the show, I want to highlight that, I was on the road a couple weeks back and we restarted our on the Road series. I featured Boston. I often go there for, a variety of reasons, and, more recently, I went to the Short Path Distillery. My buddy Matt Kurtzman, is one of, the owners of that. We're going to get Matt on the podcast to talk about, ownership of that, as well as a couple other ventures he's got cooking, talked about some places to stay, some places to eat, some things to do. So it's all great. If you, haven't been to Boston, you're looking for sort of, a toolkit of a few things to do for, like, a 24, 40 hours trip. Go to Dailey Blend.com and head over to our features section and you'll see the on the Road series, about Boston.

This week, we are starting to do video

Speaker A: All right, that wraps it up for a condensed version of the weekly rundown. Thank you for tuning in. in a similar fashion to last week, we are starting to do video. If you are listening this, you don't know, but, if you're on YouTube, you can see that we're doing the video section, of this. it's pretty easy thus far. I sort of want to upgrade my production value with some better lighting and some better cameras. Although the iPhone does a fantastic job with, the 4K camera, I think it's more probably just improved audio, maybe one or two different, lighting, kits, and maybe one or two different camera angles. But for now, this is working. If you, are out there and do any TikToking, YouTubing videoing any of that stuff, and you have any tips or tricks, please send them to me at info at Dailey Blend. and as we close out the show, don't forget to, like, follow subscribe to us on Dailey Blend.com at Dailey Blend. Check out the show on Spotify and Apple podcasts, and of course, YouTube. And with that said, enjoy the rest of your week and we'll catch you next week on the weekly rundown. Thanks for tuning in.
