Dailey Blend - Golf Project

Today's players grew up loving Jordan and Kobe, love hip-hop to EDM, and have kids but also have a closet of kicks. On top of that, they are busier than ever. Gear that aligns with a lifestyle that can seamlessly shift from meetings and Zoom calls to the course to date night.

As a fellow golf enthusiast, I understand the struggle. We both face the challenge of finding golf clothes and accessories that perfectly blend performance and style. This is our opportunity to change all that. Follow along, join in on the action, and let’s go as we kick off the Dailey Golf Project Journey.

“Little Ask” Tracker

I constantly get asked to help on projects, and the asks always take more time than the requester thinks they should. They also ask to compile and add up. So, thanks to a little bit of help from other Canva notion templates. I have developed my own. There are two tabs: the first is the individual tracker, and the second is the summary one.

Host Reed Dailey (IG & X - @ReedDailey): This is the weekly rundown segment of the Daily Blend Show

Every summer, I seem to do the same thing

So, every summer, I seem to do the same thing. Enjoy being outside like everyone else, play a lot of golf, hang out at the pool, drink some beers, eat some burgers, put on a couple pounds. Come soccer season, football season, fall, I kind of feel like it's time to hit the gym again, get back into shape. And in years past, I've sort of, you know, gone into the gym, lifted weights, done a little elliptical, but not really gotten going. And then I jump into paddle season, out of shape, get injured, get angry, et cetera, et cetera. So this year, I'm trying to nip that, in the butt, if you will, and trying to get a little more into pre paddle, shape and conditioning. I also want to continue down the goal of trying to get to under 85 in my average round scoring, by next year. And I was trying to do it by this year. That just didn't happen. So what I've done is put together, a system that works for me. And so I figured I'd walk you through it. So, first and foremost, I went and used my good friend copilot to help me design a golf centric workout for three months, intervals. And then I had it break it down in more details by week and then by day. And so I've got that all sitting in a onenote or notes app on my computer. from there, every Sunday, I do my kind of weekly planning of the workouts I'm going to do based on the sort of the big list, and I break them down into individual days. And I have my, wellness plan for the am, which usually involves some sort of bike ride through a peloton. That can be an easy bike ride, a class, a cruise, whatever, a little bit of stretching, a little more like active recovery with the mini thera gun. I bought foam rollers for all over my house and then broke out the, green stretch rope that I bought from Amazon, for, I think, like $5. learned about that in college. It's been a lifesaver. And then from a workout perspective, every morning, this is a little repetitive, I realized, to having it. In one note, I use a small little journal I got from a conference. On the right hand side, I write down my am workout, which is back to what I said, my writing. And then I put in sort of my, like, you know, main workout or Pm workout. And so that that workout breaks into five, different areas. So the first is a warm up, some sort of like elliptical. then I do active, stretching with a foam roller or one of those pvc pipes, very similar to a lot of the work that I've seen with Crossfit gibs. Then I'll go into some strength training, which is usually, weightlifting of some sort. And then I'll go into the, the core workout, which will be dynamic. And the process or the kind of flow of that would be usually some sort of, you know, device, like a concept to rower or pull down or. I don't even know what it's called. That bike that's got the big fan on the front, with the handlebars that everyone hated from the eighties, but now is popular again because of, crossfit. Then I'll do some sort of indoor running through a track and then do some sort of med ball, heavy ball throwing. The reason I like doing the heavy ball or med ball throwing is, one, it's fun, two, it helps core, it helps my back, it helps push power in my golf swing. And I've seen a direct correlation. after that, I just do you know, if I've got enough time, I'll do, you know, 30 minutes to an hour on the elliptical. The hour doesn't happen that often, but mostly like 30 minutes on the elliptical. And then I make sure I do some stretching, again at the end of the session. I like doing this because I just. My process is I write everything down in my journal, and then I have a blue highlighter for what I've completed. And then on the left hand side, I've got all the things that I want to eat. I find that if I actually write down what I'm gonna my calorie consumption for the day as a plan, I tend to stick with it versus m just thinking about it and saying, okay, here's what I want to eat. Here's what I want to stay away from. And I found that it's. I've. In almost three weeks, I've completely eliminated diet Cokes from my diet. I was drinking a couple of those a day, and I had one the other day, and it just tasted terrible. So I've pretty much removed diet Cokes. I will say, in place of a diet Coke or two, I'm drinking some of these recessed drinks. They've got, magnesium in them, and I find that they kind of chill me out and kind of, you know, make me happy in terms of just mellowing me out. They also taste pretty darn good. a couple things. Obviously, I like technology that are helping me with workouts that I use. I use myfitnesspal to enter some of this information into. I use Google sheets to track not only caloric intake, but activities. And I try to start measuring in a general sense, like happiness level, number of hours of sleep, how rested I feel. I know you can get some of this data from various health apps. I just wanted it in, like, a Google spreadsheet to track it. I'm also using from the, Runloops company, seconds and seconds is this really interesting app. I shouldn't say really interesting. It's a really simple and yet straightforward app. It's got something between a boxing bell system and what, you know, a lot of crossfit high, you know, high intensity interval training. So hit, workout people like, you can, use a couple templates. Oh, sorry, I got the paid version. But you can use some templates or you can build your own. And so the way that I structure it is, I typically will do some sort of, you know, hiit workout where there's a buffer of maybe 15 seconds to get ready. And then green, means kind of go. Or, then I have, like, black or red for my breaks, and then that repeats, obviously, for, you know, 5610 sets. so it's on, off, on, off, and then daily, blend. Blue is when I've finished it. Now, I've read that I can actually add different music for the segments. That feels like a lot of effort. I think I also probably need to have apple music. I haven't played around with it, but there is the ability to do that. When I was researching the name of the company, runloops, I did learn that they have a weightlifting app called heavy, and so I might try that out. And if I do, then a lot of the journaling kind of is duplicative. and so I go back and forth because I would like to have some of that data digitally. But I really do find the act of writing it and kind of crossing it off is not only therapeutic, but it helps keep me on track. So we've got to balance that. But both apps are available, so go check those out.

I'm heading to my first event on Friday; looking forward to it

All right, next up, we're gonna talk about golf. Lots going on, even though it's the end of the season. We had the, FedEx cup in Atlanta, and, it feels like golf isn't stopping. We've got live coming up here in Chicago. I'm heading to my first event on Friday, so I'm looking forward to doing that. I've never been to live event and, you know, looking forward to seeing DJ Bryson, Phil, et cetera, hearing music on a golf course at an event and, buying some swag, having some drinks, seeing some friends. So looking forward to checking that out. I'll let you guys know what I think, how it compares to a PGA event. if you've been keeping up with our microsite. I launched two articles, recently on the microsite. The first was that the fact that we've got our first samples, in from, the manufacturers over in overseas. And so the first ones I got to come up with an interesting name. I thought about the battle cap because it's a little bit more leaning towards, like, a sports team or a baseball team in terms of the way that we did raise lettering. it's got the, laser, cut holes in the back. It's got the big sheridan s on the front and then sheridan on the side. I'm really happy with how the order or the, sample came in. What we're going to do is put together some patches on the inside, some branded patches, and working through a couple different designs there. And then we're going to do our 1st 50, for friends and family and get those out to folks for feedback.

Sheridan is working on creating a new brand tagline

Building the tagline. And I haven't sat down and defined the mission statement, brand objectives. I've probably loosely done it, and I know most people do that first. And I went the other way. I went thinking through some of the taglines or the framework for the taglines when I initially started Sheridan. And the current tagline, I think, on our instagram, is very much around, like, you know, aligning street culture to golf. And the more I, like, thought about things that matter to me and that are interesting is not just like looking good, feeling good, playing good. But I really like data and the pursuit of performance, and improvement and the process. And so been trying to deconstruct some of my favorite brands taglines, two of which I highlighted in this article. One was Nike's just do it and then BPN's go one more. If you're less familiar with BPN. they are a, nutrition company based in Austin, Texas. And one of the things that I did see when I was deconstructing, different taglines is they're typically two to three, words, and, they're not very long. It's not like a sentence, it's like, just do it. Go one more. Kind of like, bump, bump, bump. I will. And they're action oriented. And a couple that I'm playing around with that I like and trying to figure out which ones sort of best identify with the brand and resonate with me and kind of folks that are involved with this project are mastering the moment, master your moment, progress over perfection and the pursuit of progress. I actually kind of like the, pursuit of progress or pop the best. So I hit, you might have heard Siri come through when I was recording this. Somehow I hit Siri on my keyboard and so she popped up. Didn't even know I had that enabled. Anyway, back to the, you know, taglines, if you will. Going to be working, workshopping those with some friends. I want to get some feedback on those. If, you have any suggestions. This is the whole idea of building in public, so just let me know and, you know, we'll continue to iterate and you'll be, be able to see it through the microsite.

Last week we finally released my sound off episode with Rachel J.

From talking about golf, let's talk about sound off. So last week we finally released my, sound off episode with Rachel J. She is my favorite global stylist. I've known her for a decade. she actually styled me, I think, a decade ago. And, I've stayed in touch with her, especially since moving here to Chicago. And, if you are in need of styling, for professional needs, for personal needs, you need a wardrobe makeover, if you will give Rachel a call. I consistently think she is on the cutting edge of helping people stay current, stay relevant, feel good, feel great, look good, feel good. All the above, kudos to her for coming on to the show. And if you haven't had a chance to go check out that episode, highly suggest you go check that out. It is available on Apple Podcast, Google podcast, Spotify, and of course, YouTube.

Next week, I'm heading to Boston for an investment conference

The, next thing I want to talk about is just, re highlighting some of the, playlist things. I know I mentioned it earlier with the workout section. Over the last, you know, two years, I've been putting together a series of workout playlists through Spotify. And so I'll publish those on the website as well as put them in the show notes just to make them easy. But we're up to episode or not episode volume. number six of those. Mostly been a lot of hip hop. There's been a little bit of sort of, electronic music in the mix, but mostly hip hop. And it's just kind of what I get into. and then let's talk about where you can find me on the road in real life, where we can connect. So I have a packed couple of days here, heading to the live golf event on Friday. So if you're going to be at the live golf event, hit me up. Dm me, whatever. Then next week in Chicago, I've got the, PDA. Worst acronym ever. Sorry, people. But, for board of directors, meeting, going to be, attending their prism conference. That's their first annual flagship conference. Then, we've got our virtual, executive briefing series with Lewis Manning. I'll be hosting that. It's on, cannabis and kind of the current state of the market. And then I'm flying over to Boston to attend, AGC partners event, an investment, event for the technology industry. So you'll be able to check me out in Boston. Last time I was there, I rode on a water taxi from the seaport to essentially the airport. And, I might do it again, I don't know. but, always love getting out to Boston, seeing friends, reconnecting with, colleagues and kind of contacts. So if you're going to be in the Boston area, let me know. And, yeah, with all that said, thanks for tuning in to the weekly rundown. We will catch you on the next episode. Don't forget to, like, follow, subscribe to the show. You can check me out on x I G and LinkedIn, and, you know, enjoy the rest of your week. Catch you on the next episode. It.
