Host Reed Dailey (IG & X - @ReedDailey): This is the weekly rundown segment of the Daily Blend Show
Welcome back to the Dailey Blend podcast! This is the weekly rundown
Hey, everyone. Welcome back to the Dailey Blend show with me. Reed Dailey if you are new around here. This is the weekly rundown where I feature things going on across the world of pop culture, tech media, things going on across Dailey Blend and our variety of channels and sort of outlets. Things are going on at Drink with Greg, Negronis with Greg, special life optimization, playbook upgrades, still working title on that, and so much more. Before we jump into all of that goodness, I want to remind you that this show is available on Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Spotify and, and YouTube. You can, of course, head over to Daileyblend.com where you will get all of the goodness.
This week's Dailey Blend podcast features music that matters
All right, with that said, let's jump into this week's show. So if you head over to the website, you're gonna notice a couple of things that are changing or updating, you know, sort of in the subject headers or groupings that I put this show together. I just thought it would be better to have some visual identity. So I've gone ahead and added some sort of horizontal banner ads to sort of break up some of the groupings in text. And I think, I mean, I'm a visual person, it just helps me sort of know what I'm looking at. I use visual cues to identify what's going on or what's being communicated. I just thought that was just an interesting anecdote that, ah, a friend of mine suggested, and I totally agreed with, so I implemented it. But we're gonna start with, music that matters. and this week, I’ve got this great new DJ that I came across last week. Last week. or let me first start with her name. her name is DJ Lily K. She's Brooklyn-based DJ. thanks to her, I had this fantastic jazz house mix that got me through sort of my tax prep. And I make that as a joke because that was kind of her call out in one of her mixes. That was kind of the post for it. But, yeah, I just, I'm really getting into DJ's producers who are doing live streaming, even with like, you know, micro followers, up to, you know, international superstars. I just think it's a really fantastic way for artists to connect and sort of showcase their, you know, taste beyond what's at a, like, big live venue. And, you know, it's just, it was really cool to see someone, you know, bring you into their home and kind of showcase their personal tastes. So if you are looking for some music that helps you kind of get through, you know, things like your taxes or a few hundred emails. I highly recommend checking out her jazz house mix. We actually featured her, you know, jazz house mix this week. I think I'm going to end up featuring. She's got this like, funky house next. Funky house mix next week. and then, if you obviously head over to Daileyblend.com, you can see all of our past Music Monday features. I got it all kind of linked and then sub-links in there. In terms of, you know, throwback Thursdays. Have you been following the website as well as this show? You know, we've been featuring t’s dos in search of Sunrise series for the last two months, and we finally put together a wrap-up post of all of those mixes in one place. So that's just, I mean, if you needed like a full day of just headphone music, boom, you've got it. You've got, you know, all of the mixes. You know, I think after CD, ah, number three or mix three, they were double discs. So you got a ton of good stuff there. And then, you know, we're going to be working on putting together a mix for Dailey Blend podcast 155 that's going to feature all of my favorite tracks from the ’In Search of Sunrise’ series. I'm actually going to be in the air on Thursday, so I'm going to be traveling a fair bit, and I’m going to start working on that mix this week, actually, in terms of the Dailey Blend podcast. And for those less familiar, Dailey Blend podcast is my m, you know, music house podcast that I've been doing for ten-plus years. We, just went and finished up episode 150 of the show. It's 3 hours of straight EDM bangers. And, we're moving right along. We're moving on to episode 151 of the podcast, which is now live. It's way more house, sort of tech house, really chilled-out vibes. I intentionally want to do this for all those folks coming off the Winter Music Conference or Miami Music Week, however, you want to think about it or call it these days. And it’s super downtempo, super chill. it's one of my favorite mixes that I've made in a while. so go check that out. It's available on Apple Podcast, Soundcloud, and YouTube. It's not available on Spotify due to the licensing of those tracks. Spotify just doesn't allow it, but all the other platforms have it available.
Greg and I are kicking off Tuesday night Negronis tonight
in terms of what is going on with Drink with Greg (DrinkWithGreg.com), I got a bunch of updates. I'm super fired up for what Greg and I have been cooking up recently. So I mentioned this on the show last week or the week before that. Greg and I sort of did a jam session, and we recorded a, Dailey Blend or not Dailey Blend, a drink with Greg podcast. Typically, we're just doing the Negronius with Greg. You know, we forgot to hit the record button, which was stupid. But, you know, during that conversation, we had a drink with Greg's episode. We did a Negronis with Greg episode. We actually hit the record for that. And then we jammed through, like, all of our kind of content and ideas. And one of the ideas that Greg came up with was Tuesday night Negronis. So it's just like an interesting and fun way to get all the people that have DM’d us, emailed us, saying, like, hey, hadn't tried a Negroni before, kind of talking to you guys. I'm all in on this drink. Didn't know that there were so many variations. How do I, like, get involved with, you know, what you guys are doing at, ah, drink with Greg or Negronis with Greg? Like, I want to be, like, part of the community. And so we're kicking off Tuesday night Negronis tonight. you've got the Tuesday night Negronis hashtag, which, I know it, 's a little bit long, but what's cool is I actually searched it on Instagram. I didn't search it on x, but I did search it on Instagram, and no one's using it. So it's our own little thing. So, you know, the idea here is that it showcases kind of everyone around the globe enjoying their Negronis and sharing it with friends. And so beyond that, we haven't done much. I punched out a couple of different art variations that Greg and one of our buddies looked at this weekend. But, I think we're going to eventually, like, do some voting contest of what we like from a branding and logo standpoint and probably do some merch down the road if I had a betting man. but, you know, I'm just kind of, like, fired up to kick this off. so I made sure that I cleared my calendar to do a little bit of content on Tuesday night Negronis. Tonight, I'm debating where I'm going to do it. I'm either going to do it, obviously, at my house, but I'm also going to be in the city, so I could be doing it at one of my local bars or restaurants in town. I also get on the train, and they have the Negronis to go in the cans right before you get on the train. So I don't know. I don't know where I'm going to have time. But you will see a post from me on both Negronis with Greg, drinks with Greg, Instagrams, as well as my one, at Reed Dailey, in terms of what's going on over at Drink with Greg’s, from a content standpoint, we're just, like, rocking and rolling with, books for cocktail books.
This week, we're featuring Jim Meehan's bartender manual
I'm really becoming a big fan of cocktail books and just learning behind masters, who were just fantastic bartenders, mixologists, etcetera. So this week we're featuring Jim Meehan's. Meehan's bartender manual. So Jim is the winner of a James Beard Award for Tales of the Cocktail Spirit awards for best new cocktails. and, you know, he was also the former founder. I think he's a founder, but a head bartender at, PDT in New York, and that's where I got to know him. so looking forward to jumping in this book. I own PDT, which is one of the more interesting cocktail books I think I've ever seen, just because whoever did the art in it just did a fantastic job. I wish I knew that person's name. I have to go figure that out. But head over to drinkwithgreg.com and check out that book, and if you end up buying it, let me know what your favorite recipe is from the drink of the week.
Augusta national's famous azalea cocktail recipe posted on Pinterest
So it is Augusta week, around the world for the Masters and Augusta national's famous azalea cocktails recipe, finally. I wouldn't call it leaked. They posted it on Pinterest. And you can make it now. And you can, of course, pair it with the pimento cheese sandwiches, which. Which I've been told is a must down in Augusta. So, head over to Drink, with Greg and check out past post. You can also check out the recipe for their famous azalea cocktails. And, you know, if you can't tell, we're trying to do more and more things that are community-oriented. So you're gonna see, obviously, the drink of the week, and you can follow along with that, but you're gonna see Tuesday night negronis. So we're working on the dates of how to spread that out. I think the way we'll probably do it is, Tuesday nights are negroni nights. Thursday nights are probably gonna be the drink of the week. I’m not sure yet, but I think that’s gonna be the flow of things, and I’m trying to figure out where we’re gonna put kind of other content in between that kind of key pillar contents, if you will.
Life optimization playbooks and toolkits are next in the series
All right. Moving around or moving along if we want to think about it. So, optimization playbooks and toolkits is like the next section. And this is the life optimization playbook. Still working on that title. I don't love it but I haven't thought of anything else yet. So, I'm pretty happy with the weekly planner. And all of these planners that I'm building are very much not time-bound or priority bound. They're more just categories of things that I want to do either, Dailey by day or once a week. And so I feel like I've got the weekly planner pretty well flushed out. I think personally, I'm just trying to figure out what goes down there between, you know, must, do tasks versus goals versus tactical things and kind of what that looks like personally. And that's sort of where I'm jumping into this Dailey planner. And I know it's not perfect, right. You're gonna have certain things that you have to do Dailey. There are certain things you have to do weekly, and certain things that you plan on certain days. But, what I've done now is I've built out a Dailey planner and it looks at what are the things that I need to do. And I sort of bracket or bracket, break my day into four buckets. That's early am. So that's the hours between, like 04:35 a.m. To like 08:00 a.m. Then 08:00 a.m. To 1212 to sort of three, you know, three or four. Four to kind of end of day. And so right now, I'm going to kick off that Dailey planner. I haven't printed it off and put pen to paper yet, so I'm doing that today. And, that's usually where I start to, like, flush out, okay, change this. Tweak that. Didn't like that. But I would kind of love anyone's feedback on the Dailey planner, what you guys like about it, what you don't like about it, etc.. And obviously, both the Dailey and weekly planners are available. You can download those templates from Canva. You just hit the button over on the Dailey Blend, and it will open up to Canva. Download a PDF and go from there.
Last week we did the Friday top five instead of the Saturday slowdown
The last thing is the Friday top five. So last week, thanks to basketball, golf simulator, work life, and everything, we didn't do the Friday top five. Instead, we did the Saturday slowdown. And it was interesting because I actually got a couple of different folks that typically don't message me, that message me and said, whoa, hey, didn't even know you had this thing. Hey, got it on a Saturday. And what a great way to kick off the weekend. So, that will be interesting if Friday’s top five move over to Saturday Slowdown. But it sounds much cooler. Saturday, slow down. But, yeah, the Friday top five is where I feature five things that I thought were notable or interesting, from tips and tricks to tackling life, music I'm into, and just sort of stuff going on in, around town or on the web. you know, sometimes there's a big theme to it. Other times it's just five things that I thought were interesting. But don’t forget to head over to the DaileyBlend.com newsletter. Sign up for that. Get in your inbox.
